Wedding officiant make you comfortable? Why or why not?
We very quickly knew that Rev. Reed was the officiant for us because of how at-ease she made us feel. We really liked her energy, her style and her suggestions. When she told us that people normally get back to her after the first meeting and let her know if they've chosen her to be their officiant, we said we knew right then and wanted to make sure that we were on her calendar for our wedding date.
- What did the officiant or clergy add that was unexpected? She was very knowledgeable in various religious and spiritual traditions, which gave her the ability to give input on parts of our ceremony when needed. She also improvised a pre-ceremony activity that allowed us to fill in a little time while waiting for some guests that were late.
- How did you personalize your wedding ceremony? We found a ceremony in a book and modified it to fit our personalities and what we wanted to include and convey. Rev. Reed helped us by suggesting the order of blessings and prayers we wanted to include. She also asked lots of questions that helped us decide exactly what we wanted and made it clear that she understood what we wanted.
- Favorite wedding ceremony comment from guests? "Your officiant was perfect for the two of you!" was a sentiment shared by many guests. People also said that they thought the ceremony and the words we chose were beautiful and suited us well.
